Introduction

This technical note discusses Med-Center Server software installation as a service on Windows 2000 or Windows XP hardware.  This technical note applies to Med-Center v4.x or above.

Discussion
Med-Center Server architecture utilizes the 4D Server engine from 4D.com which has the ability to be run as a Windows service.  The two are fully integrated, so by installing the Med-Center Server application on the server hardware, the service is ready to be started.   The primary benefit of running Med-Center as a service is the operating system's ability to automatically restart Med-Center if the hardware's power is interrupted.
